So we went back to the lake with the bitch triangle a couple days ago, the kids were jumping off the dock and diving for rocks...and suddenly they swam into shore and were done. We were like "Hey, what's up with that? You guys were having so much fun."

The reply?

"Well there's poo in the water."

"What do you mean?"

"I'm pretty sure it's human."

"Okay, let's go."

Amazing dramatic photos like this one. Although in times like these you have to really wonder about the photographer. Is the shot THAT important? I suppose to some people it is. This topic reminds me of Kevin Carter, the photographer who took a photo of a starving child in Sudan and later killed himself. The photo is one of the most powerful pictures I have ever seen, but also the most terrible. Click here to see it. Or don't.

1. I just kinda wanted to brag to you all that I applied and was accepted into the Editors' Association of Canada yesterday! It's official, ladies and germs, I am fancy. Check out my tab "What I Will Do For Money" to learn more about all that stuff. So yeah, if you're ever stuck on editing stuff, please give me shout!

2. I have some kind of food allergy that I can't quite figure out. And the symptoms range from sniffy nose to pretty bad stomach cramps to getting all itchy. But it seems to happen when I eat really different things. At first I was blaming onions but...it's not always onions. SO FRUSTRATING!! How does a person figure these things out? Any experience on food allergies out there you guys? Please help!

3. The Vice TV's network publicist sent me a press release kit and an exclusive preview to the next installment of the Tattoo Age show, the one about Dan Santoro. And I watched it. And (obviously) it was as good as the other two. (It's live now, click here to watch it. Also: PART ONE and PART TWO) I just thought I should let you know that I am "press" now. (?)  I can't wait 'til the Grime episode!

Too chilly for swimming...

...but what else is new? We're not really getting much summer here on Vancouver Island. There's a lot of windy grey days, sprinkled with rain. I can count the amount of what I would consider SUMMER-summer days on one hand. But to be honest, I don't mind. I can't function when the sun's beating down on my pale limbs and giving me heat stroke all over the place anyway. So anyway, here's some pictures of us at a manmade "lake" I would never ever swim in.

Mostly because of this...

Ew, right? I am like 85% sure it's just for runoff from the road, but still...no. So we just stood on the edge of the water and watched the waves. "Waves in a lake?" you ask? Um yes. It was that windy.

This is also where I saw the bitch triangle.

p.s. Did you notice there's actually pictures of me in there? I'm always the one behind the camera but that day I handed it to Ryan, telling him "Hey, take some pictures of me!" I'm going to try and do that more often .

A day in the park...

My busted-ass Toms and my two dollar tattoo. 

How do you play hide and seek? Because when I was a kid, the person who was 'it' counted to whatever the agreed upon number was, and the rest of the people ran and they found a hiding spot, and got in it. And stayed in it until they were found. Period. You had to use your hiding skills, and you stayed there until they found you.

When we were at the park the other day, Ryan was 'it', and the kids were hiding...but whenever he came near to finding them they ran and hid somewhere else. It became less "hide and seek" and more "evade and chase". Which I think is BULLSHIT. haha I got all mad about it ... they were cheating!

(Don't worry, I didn't say anything to ruin the fun. But I did refuse to play. You know, moral principles.)

Also, what do you call the thing where you're pushing someone on a swing and you run underneath them? I call it an "underduck" but Ryan said it's "underdog". He said that every boy he's ever met has called it "underdog" but I have never heard that in my life until that day.

We grew up on opposite sides of a huge country. Apparently there were more cultural differences on the playground than I had anticipated.
